The Mission of Lava Lake Ranch

"The mission of Lava Lake is to conserve and restore native ecosystems at a landscape scale and to build an economically viable and environmentally sound business."

Our vision is of a working landscape that is rich with healthy wildlife populations and functioning ecosystems, preserving the wild nature of the land while using it carefully.

We are working on many fronts:

• Restoring streams and creeks
• Improving sage grouse habitat
• Participating with government and conservation groups in research projects on fire management, grazing and other critical Western land management issues
• Creating educational opportunities for visitors
• Creating a vital biological research hub, attracting students and experienced scientists alike

Our continuing goal is to thoroughly develop and deepen our understanding of the landscape and use that knowledge to make good decisions about how we manage our livestock, our farming, and our recreation.
